I saw myself walking
submerged as I went
through thickets through thunder
unknowingly sent.
On a venture towards something
a clearing perhaps,
at which I might rest
my mind's eye from this lapse.
Of time that has toughened the soles of my feet
and tugged me so slowly towards where we will meet.
Again and again, like the stars meet the sky
until we are one, our spirits entwined.
But as I watch close,
myself walk through this wood,
I can only but hope,
I emerge as I should.
For thickets and thunder
try ever so hard
to keep me from where I am going
